New CEO will make Hemma stores profitable

When Daniel Lindin takes over as President and CEO of the white goods chain Hemmabutikerna he has a clear assignment from the owners: to restore the owned stores to profitability, fast. The recipe for success will be to enhance efficiency, cut costs and expand at the same time.

"My task will be to ensure that we build up the right muscles in the organization. The balance must swing by the autumn and in 2009 we will have turned a loss into a profit," says Daniel Lindin, President and CEO of Hemmabutikerna.

Hemmabutikerna is located throughout Sweden. They have 20 own stores and over 80 member stores, which are owned by the retailers. A big new store will soon open in Upplands Väsby, and later in the autumn another one will open in Kungens Kurva outside Stockholm, according to the new concept drawn up during the spring and summer. "We will all work towards the same targets and unite all the stores into a single chain. This is why I will not be wearing out my office chair. I will be out getting to know the staff and retailers in the stores in order to gain an impression of what works well and what works less well," says Daniel Lindin. Daniel will take over the role of CEO after Torkel Hallander. Daniel has substantial experience of change programs and the retail sector from his previous positions. Most recently he was president of Emerio and previously he worked at OKQ8 and Axfood.

Hemmabutikerna has also renewed its board with three new members, Stein-Petter Ski from owners Hakon Invest, Ove Fagerström, retailer in Söderhamn/Iggesund and Per Wiberg, who has many years of experience from work on boards.

"We believe that Daniel Lindin, helped by the new board, is the CEO who can achieve the turnaround we need to quickly restore profitability," says Georg Müller, Chairman of Hemmabutikerna. Daniel Lindin is 33 and was born in Västervik. He prefers to spend his leisure time with his family, his wife Alexandra and his two-year old son. And preferably in the family's boat. He is also very keen on sport, primarily running and skiing.
